The wrong paper will ruin it

Today I was reminded of how critical choosing the right paper stock can be. I had a nice meeting with a representative from Monadnock Paper Mills who brought along lovely examples of design pieces printed on the perfect stock. It was easy to see how selecting, or being made to compromise for a lesser grade of paper could degrade the piece severely. But we all know that it goes deeper than that, and that each representation of a companies face has the potential to help or hurt it, at times this can be dramatic as it may expand virally.

As designers we push to make sure every detail of a project is perfect. As designers avoiding "failure" we dissuade as strongly as we can those that will try to cut corners to save dollars because of their inability to see the big picture. Our struggle will be to communicate that we push for a shared vision of a great solution, and that we don't do it out of pure ego or a desire to be primarily "artistic".

.: stay strong! :.
